Every ride counts with OCTRA's Distance Rewards Program.

Rider enrollment in the Distance Rewards Program is included with the annual OCTRA Membership fee* so every member automatically starts earning mileage towards Lifetime Distance Awards. (*Adult, Family and Lifetime memberships are eligible, Associate memberships are not.)

Enrolling Your Horse

Each horse can join the program with a one-time $30 enrollment fee. Once enrolled, your horse will receive its own OCTRA Horse ID number which will be used to track the horse's lifetime mileage. Selling your horse? No problem! The ID number - and all its hard earned mileage - stays with the horse and can be transferred to the new owner. (Subject to a small transfer fee.) 

Adding Past Mileage

Want to include your previous accomplishments? The Prior Year Mileage Request allows you to add distance completed before enrollment. Just provide proof of completions and ensure your OCTRA membership fees are up to date for those years.

Awards and Recognition

You and your horse will be recognized for every milestone you achieve:

• New in 2026 - riders and horses reaching their first 160km in total mileage will receive a certificate, and for each additional 160km, stickers will be provided to update the mileage certificate. 
• Riders receive awards at each 800 km milestone
• Horses earn a plaque at 800 km, with mileage plates for every additional 800 km (1600 km, 2400 km, and beyond)  
• All mileage from OCTRA sanctioned events counts toward your lifetime totals - for both you and your horse (if enrolled).
• Breed Category awards are given at the annual Banquet for the horse with the most mileage in each category, and there is also a Best of the Rest Award category. When enrolling your horse, specify your breed category, or select Best of the Rest. 

Out of Province Rides

Heading beyond Ontario? You can include mileage from one out-of-province ride each year (up to 160 km / 100 miles) from an OCTRA-recognized organization, with proof of completion. Send your out of province request to the Distance Rewards Program Coordinator (membership@octra.on.ca).
