Before anything else — thank you for your interest in hosting a ride! 
Without events, we wouldn’t be able to compete in this sport we love, and without Ride Managers like you, there wouldn’t be any events.

You are truly the backbone of our organization — the reason riders get to compete, volunteers get to participate, and our sport continues to grow. Hosting an event is a big job, but it’s also one of the most rewarding ways to make a difference. We’re here to guide you every step of the way!

Hosting an Event? Here’s What You Need to Do

1. Be a Member
   You must be a current member of OCTRA to serve as a Ride Manager.
   (Not a member yet? Join us!)

2. Get Sanctioned
   All events must be sanctioned with OCTRA before they can be held (Limited Distance and Endurance events must also be sanctioned by AERC)

   • Fill out the Sanctioning Form completely.

   • Submit it to the Sanctioning Director for review and approval at least 90 days before your proposed ride event.

   • Once approved, your event will be added to OCTRA's ride calendar.

   • Is this your first time managing a ride? Don’t go it alone — help is available! New event managers can request an Event Mentor to assist with planning, logistics, and understanding OCTRA's procedures. Event Mentors are experienced OCTRA members who can provide guidance from start to finish. To request a mentor, simply contact the Sanctioning Director or the Board of Directors when you begin your sanctioning process.
